Auditions

Auditions for new chorale singers are held during the first two weeks of the season as well as periodically throughout the season. The ability to read music or the possession of previous choral experience is always a plus, but not a requirement. Mp3s will be made for every part of every song in our repertoire, so singers with good ears can also pick up their parts by listening.  If you are a good reader or have a good ear, and are dedicated to creating music with other passionate singers, come join us.  Please contact Artistic Director Mark Peterson by email at westminsterchorale@gmail.com to setup an appointment.

Commitment

The Westminster Chorale performs two major concerts per season. In addition, the Chorale sings at private, community and civic functions around the Orange County region. As a member you are expected to:

  • Commit in advance to the scheduled performance dates listed below.
  • Attend rehearsals as scheduled, beginning Monday evenings in September through the last concert in May.
  • Study the repertoire independently and be prepared for each rehearsal
  • Pledge to Donate $20 per month in Chorale dues or $25 per family
  • Required concert attire: concert black, plus concert music folder
  • Participate in the promotion and growth of the choir, including selling tickets, promoting concerts, supporting fund-raising activities, and performing volunteer tasks.

Rehearsal Schedule

Members of the Westminster Chorale rehearse once a week on Monday evenings. Unless noted in the 2019-20 season above, rehearsals will take place

  • At the Westminster Senior Center in their Dining Hall.
8200 Westminster Blvd. Westminster CA 92683  (Google Maps)
  • Take place from 7:00pm-9:00pm each Monday.
Be prepared by rehearsing your parts during the week and having all your music in rehearsal or concert order.
  • Begin promptly.
Chorale members are expected to arrive on time. Rehearsals are demanding and rewarding. Break times offer members the chance to chat and get to know new singers.
